Passion and starting from zero

I guess you have to accept that if you want to learn something new you have to accept that you’re going to be rubbish at it to start with. – And equally that anything worth achieving is going to require some effort.

Looking back at my achievements in 2019 (for example, being in the top 4 in the UK Crossfit Open for my age group twice in the year – and achieving numerous lifetime bests in the course of my regular training) then it’s obvious that success comes from regular effort, practice and passion.

Every year for the last several years I’ve made a vague resolve to learn to play my saxophone – and given up at the first hurdle. This year I’m opting to make regular time to practise with my clarinet (and move onto the saxophone later in the year). A little every day will get me off the starting blocks.

Today I’m struggling with the embrasure – but like every muscle I will get stronger. Wish me musical luck!!
