Are we all still family zooming? Family quizzing? Digital family gatherings?
Is the family zoom any kind of substitute for real life connections with family who you haven’t seen for well over a year. Only 200 real life miles away – but might as well be the other side of the world? Are we kidding ourselves here?
In the past families used to stay connected by living in the same street – at worst the same town. Now we go far and wide – chasing better jobs and knowing that those extra miles are easily travelled in a few hours. Are we paying the price for that freedom now?
The family zoom is no substitute for being in the same room. I’m looking forward to the day – hopefully soon – when we can all get together.
